    Sam Harris: There's no such thing as Islamophobia

    The Daily Beast recently published an article by Sam Harris about the controversial Ground Zero mosque. Within the article he is critical of Mayor Bloomberg for being tolerant of religious stupidity as well as muslim moderates who have failed to stand against muslim bullying. In addition, Harris argues that there is no such thing as Islamophobia for the reason that it is a system of ideas and practices - thus being critical of an idea is not the same as being critical of someones race. In other words, as Harris describes 'it is not a form of bigotry or racism to observe that the specific tenants of the faith pose a special threat to civil society.'

    The Bus Stop Bible studies began a new campaign on March 18th with the intention of having people consider their relationship with fairytale characters (i.e. god). They are featuring 24 different questions, such as "What is hell?" and "God, is 2012 the end?".

    FFRF "Solstice" Sign Prompts Lawsuit by Candidate

    CHICAGO (CN) - A candidate for Illinois Comptroller has sued the state for allowing an atheist group to post a sign alongside the religious holiday displays in the State Capitol. William Kelly, a Republican, claims Capitol Police unjustly "detained (him) and escorted him from the building" because he turned the atheists' sign face down. Kelly calls the sign "hate speech.

    Kelly's federal complaint against the Illinois Secretary of State claims: "In December 2009, a sign was placed in the Capitol Building, approved by the Defendant, that read as follows:

    "At the time of the winter solstice, let reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is just a myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."
