Cool My visit to the Natural History Museum in London

I went to the Natural History Museum in London. It was a bit cold and it was drizzling outside!

So I thought I’d upload some of them here

This is one of the oldest trees of record! It witnessed the evolution of man!

This is Lucy! Found in the 1970s ... it was an astonishing discovery, because it was well preserved and showed us a strong candidate for the missing link. It's top-half is ape like, and bottom half if man-like. That is to say it walked!!

Our closest relatives are the Chimpanzees. In fact, the Chimpanzees are one of the *only* animals known to use rocks to open nuts, and plant stems to use to eat ants. In other words, they can manipluate the world around them. Astonishing stuff.

A gigantic turtle! I took this as I was quite surprised how huge they are! You can see me in the reflection.

    The cafe!! yum!

The missing link of reptile flight!

I took this picture because I couldn't believe how bloody huge they are!!

I went to a talk in the Darwin Centre

Beauitfully presevred Coelophysis. This is one of the earliest dinosaurs, and has the famous lizard-hip structure!

This used to be a relative of the bear! How terrifying!

I was there a few years ago, perhaps I'll post some pictures when I get home.

    Greetings .......,

Thanks for taking us with you to the museum
    I enjoyed your pictures.
You have a good sense re: subject and composition.
If you are into it — start using a tripod/support, as it will sharpen things noticeably.
Digital imaging is much more sensitive to camera shake then traditional film.

I will be in London this July.
I just might go to the NHM as a result.

Yeah, I am beginning to really enjoy photography. I don't think it's possible to take very good pics though, as there were a lot of people.

Oh nice, you're visiting London! There are so many places to go!!

Thanks for the visit to the NHM in London! If you enjoyed that museum you'd love the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta, Canada. They even have outdoor dinosaur digs to visit in the area. Royal Tyrrell Museum | Exhibits

Really, that's pretty cool. I'll have to take a trip up there sometime.

Oh she was a dish. She was the best friend and best girlfriend anyone could ever have , aside from the whole bit where she left me after 4 years.
